ZeroAvia’s 600kW EPS combines the company’s proprietary inverter and electric motor technology to deliver a highly efficient electric engine with exceptional fault tolerance and specific power. The 600kW EPS system comprises four ZeroAvia 200kW continuous power bidirectional inverters converting DC power to AC to supply ZeroAvia’s direct drive motor, capable of 2,200 rpm. Potential applications for the 600kW EPS include battery, hybrid and fuel cell electric fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

ZeroAvia has already extensively tested a prototype of the ZA600 hydrogen-electric engine aboard a Dornier 228 aircraft at its UK base. The company has an engineering partnership with Textron Aviation as it looks to secure a supplemental type certificate for the Cessna Grand Caravan as the launch airframe for the ZA600.

ZeroAvia today announced that it has been invited to join the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s extended and expanded Hydrogen Challenge programme.

Working with the CAA, ZeroAvia will explore the necessary safety and regulatory requirements for commercial adoption of hydrogen as it looks towards the certification of its ZA600 hydrogen-electric powertrain for up to 20 seat aircraft. This work with the regulator includes exploring safe hydrogen fuel storage, distribution and refuelling practices at airfields and on aircraft. It complements ZeroAvia’s efforts to certify its first full hydrogen-electric engine – the ZA600 designed for up to 20 seat planes – with the CAA.

Gleeds Airport experience useful for Lapsset Corridor proposed new Airports, and possibly a new upgrade of Isiolo airport & Nairobi airport – Electricity provided from Solar Farms at Lamu, Isiolo & Nairobi

Isiolo Airport Expansion

Extension of runway is required to 3KM to enable increase in passenger and cargo traffic, a new Cargo handling whare house and facilities, upgrade lighting for 24 hour capability and a New Air Traffic Control Tower. Isiolo is the food basket of Kenya producing agricultural and Horticultural produce and is also a major livestock area.

Example of Gleeds Airport experience – Gleeds starts work as program manager on £107m JFK airport project.

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) should form part of the Lapsset Corridor Net Zero plan – SAF is a type of fuel that is produced from renewable and sustainable sources such as biomass, biofuels, and waste materials. Unlike traditional aviation fuel, which is made from fossil fuels such as oil, SAF can help reduce the carbon emissions and environmental impact of aviation.

SAF is compatible with existing aircraft engines and infrastructure, and can be used as a drop-in replacement for traditional aviation fuel. It has the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote a more sustainable and environmentally friendly aviation industry.

SAF is considered a key component of efforts to decarbonize the aviation sector and achieve net-zero emissions in the future. It is also seen as a way to help airlines meet their emissions reduction targets and comply with increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

Taking care of customers is what JetBlue Airways is all about. That’s why customer experience was at the forefront of the airline’s goals for its new terminal at JFK International Airport. Gleeds has worked with JetBlue since 2006 on several projects, including the development of Terminal 5 (T5) and Terminal 5 International (T5i), the facility’s new international arrivals concourse. They developed, implemented and managed a cost control system for the programs, and provided oversight and review of document control processes.

One of the world’s best terminals

T5 is a state-of-the-art terminal recognised for its customer experience, service and concessions. As one of the 1st terminals in the U.S. completely designed and built after 9/11, security and safety were of paramount importance. The 635,000 ft2 terminal includes a 20-lane security checkpoint for 29 gates throughout 3 concourses. Travelers can reach any of T5’s gates within a 5-minute walk from the TSA checkpoint. Connecting the concourses is the Marketplace, which accommodates events like JetBlue’s “Live from T5” concert series. T5 is also home to:

  • 20+ restaurants and markets
  • 15+ shops and stores
  • Concessions
  • A spa
  • Pay-per-use Airspace Lounge

Possible new Airport accommodation

Isiolo Solar Farm could provide electricity to the new Airport and people of Isiolo

Irrigation for the people in Isiolo to help establish crops as a result of desertification and droughts.
